Mukna
Bengali Form of Wrestling
A Bengali form of wrestling. Legend states that the sport evolved when Pakhangba, the mythological destroyer of the universe, fought with his brother who was the incarnation of a horse. His brother was causing great upset and needed to be admonished from the kingdom. Pakhangba won a long fight by using a martial arts technique from which the art of Mukna evolved.
Victory is declared when an opponent is thrown to the ground and he hits his head, back, shoulder, hand or knee on the floor.
